Coaches & Managers

One of the essential functions of coaches and team managers is to manage team communications with players and their families.  If you are a coach or team manager, please view the Ohio Tide Coaches Guide, to help you use our website and mobile app to efficiently and effectively communicate and manage your teams. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page and view the Essential Coach How-To's section.

This will continue to be a place we provide helpful resources or important information.

You make the difference for each player's experience and development! Here are some expectations that we all should follow during the season.

  • Be at the field 15 minutes before players expected to arrive
  • Be prepared with lineup (including sub plan for game) & equipment
  • Be organized with umpire check forms before & after the game
  • Be energetic and positive, talk with the kids throughout the game
  • Be approachable by parents, converse with them during game (where appropriate)
  • Roster bat for 11U, work multiple pitchers for 11U
  • Be the last one to leave the field

Mandatory Coaching Responsibilities

For the safety of the team and a robust experience for each family, we will need your help leading and enforcing the following:

  1. Umpire Cash –  You will be responsible for the cash for UMPs for your season games. Ohio Tide will provide each Manager funds throughout the season via EFT.  Each team  will need to complete this brief form to document UMP payment for each game so we can keep track of how much additional money is needed.

  2. Team Communications – In the Sports Engine App Chat

  3. Keep the Schedule Changes Current (cancel, rain, reschedule) – In the Sports Engine App Schedule (see tips down below to edit a game in Sports Engine App)

  4. Monitor Attendance via RSVPs (for practices and games) – In the Sports Engine App Schedule

  5. Complete a incident report for any player injuries during practices or games

HOME UMP PAY RATES

Ohio Tide is working with Lake Erie Assigning for all home games at the following rates. Please communicate these rates to your opposing coaching staff.

11U will only have 1 UMP per home game per the league agreement, all other ages should have 2 per home game (pending any unforeseen issues).
